Our
hotel in Antalya was in the "old town" with lovely views of the
Mediterranean and quaint winding streets. In the morning we headed
to Termessos. The strenuous short hike brought us to a beautiful
and unspoiled site. Since this was the day before the eclipse the
crowds were gathering in the area and Michael captured new shots
for his eclipse paraphernalia collection.
For lunch we stopped at what we
had been told was a "gas station" restaurant. There was a gas
station but that is where the similarity ended with any "gas
station" restaurant I have ever seen. The outdoor dining setting
was beautiful amongst the trees and the food was wonderful!
From there we went to the ancient city of Phaselis which is
on the shore with lovely views. It was easy to imagine a
well functioning city here.
Then
we drove to our hotel in the village of Cirali at the site
of the ancient Olympos city in the shadow of Mt. Tahtali (Olympos).
Here we joined the other Wilderness Travel eclipse chasers
and the excitement about the next day began to grow.
